EZULWINI – Insika Hardware has injected E12 000 to sponsor a festive soccer tournament for the youth in Ezulwini, Kanyatsi tournament.
The one-day tournament, featuring six teams, will be played on Sunday, December 21.
It will commence with a round-robin stage in two groups of three teams, with the top finishers in each group advancing to the final. The competition is organised by the Longalaza Youth.
Yesterday morning marked a key day in the countdown as Insika Hardware, which has a branch in the community, unveiled the E12 000 support as part of its commitment to give back to the community.
The sponsorship was unveiled by the company boss, Patel Lukman, at the store in Satellite Ezulwini, in front of the participating teams.
Speaking on behalf of the hardware, Manager Sihle Lukhele said they decided to support the community as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Lukhele added that they are looking to maintain this relationship for years to come, mentioning a future goal of sponsoring a schools tournament within the community.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Development Committee, Goodwill Maziya, thanked the sponsor for believing in the partnership.
Maziya noted that the financial package was substantial for a new partnership and expressed hope that the tournament would help unearth local talent.
The Chairperson of the Youth, Lwazi Dlamini, highlighted that the tournament aims to enhance unity in the community, even though the primary focus remains fun.
Dlamini, along with the other speakers, cautioned against violence on the day, adding that the draw is yet to be conducted.
The participants for this competition are Gelekeceni, Intshakabili, Longalaza North and South, Buka, as well as the Insika Hardware club, which will be playing for fun.
