MBABANE – Local music sensation Zamo Dlamini is trading the microphone for the script, making an exciting debut on the popular South African television drama, ‘Isitha: The Enemy.’
The songbird’s arrival to the show, an e.tv original series from BlackBrain Pictures introduced a much-needed layer of piety and contrast to the drama’s intense world of crime, betrayal and royal intrigue. Nomzamo “Zamo” Dlamini, the popular Eswatini actress and singer, has joined the drama series where she plays the character Thulile.
Dlamini confirmed that she is joining the cast towards the end of the current season, an opportunity she was thrilled to seize. Revealing the simple, yet intriguing, genesis of her on-screen personality, she commented:
“I have joined the TV series and I joined as a church lady. The character was developed from there.’’
This foundation suggests her character will be rooted in community, faith, and perhaps a moral structure that stands in sharp opposition to the dark underworld that dominates the lives of the show’s main players. Her portrayal promises a fascinating contrast to the existing cast of heists and heartbreaks.
‘Isitha: The Enemy’ is a spin-off from the adult-themed drama ‘The Black Door’ and was created by Mandla N and Mpumelelo Nhlapo.
It stars a heavy-hitting cast, including Dawn Thandeka King, Thobani Nzuza, Senzo Radebe and Linda Sebezo, among others, with many reprising their roles.
The drama centres on Chuma Sokhulu (Thobani Nzuza), a man presumed dead who has been living in eSwatini as ‘Lazarus,’ having embraced a life of heists under the chiefdom of Chief Ngwenya (Lindani Nkosi).
Royal Conflict: Chuma/Lazarus enters a forbidden relationship with the royal chiefess, Nomcebo (Dawn Thandeka King), who has been cast aside by the chief.
Betrayal and Flight: After being caught stealing from the chief, Chuma and Nomcebo flee eSwatini and return to Chuma’s home.
The Ultimate Enemy: Chuma’s return reopens old wounds, as he finds his brother, Khaya (Zamani Mbatha), in bed with his wife, Nolitha (Sibulele Ntlebi) and immediately attracts the attention of his long-time enemy, Rebecca Mabuza (Linda Sebezo).
