MBABANE – Christmas came early for the residents of Buka as five families received generous donations of groceries and blankets from Lozitha Social Team.

This heartwarming gesture has become a December tradition for Lozitha Social, who carefully select the communities they support each year. Last year, Lobamba Lomdzala was the focus, and in 2023 it was Lozitha and this year it was Buka-Zulwini’s turn to benefit.

In total, the donations, worth over E9 000, included essential groceries such as maize meal, sugar, beans, cooking oil, chicken portions, tins of pilchards, potatoes, carrots, onions  and Colgate toothpaste, alongside blankets for each family, bringing warmth both literally and figuratively.

Sipho ‘Moya’ Simelane, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Lozitha Social Team, explained the motivation behind the initiative: “We do this from the heart, to encourage the spirit of giving, especially during the festive season. Our work doesn’t stop on the football field; we go the extra mile for our communities. Just two months ago, we led a community clean-up campaign and we hope to inspire other social teams to support families in need.”

Speaking on behalf of the families, one recipient revealed the depth of their struggle: they had no idea what they would eat and were overwhelmed by the kindness. “We can only thank God for blessings like this and may the almighty extend blessings to the team,” they said.

Local leaders, including the bucopho and indvuna yekhundla, also praised Lozitha Social Team for their generosity, hinting at future collaborations and friendly social challenges between teams.
