MBABANE – The Minister for Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, has announced the appointment of new Boards for two parastatals under his ministry.
The appointments were announced during a press conference held yesterday at the ministry’s offices.
The two parastatals are the Eswatini Competition Commission (ESCC) and the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO).
The minister said the Boards are expected to provide oversight to institutions that play a role in market regulation, investment promotion, enterprise development, consumer protection and standards compliance.
According to the minister, the appointments were made in line with the need to ensure accountability, effective decision-making and alignment with the mandates of the respective institutions.
The ESCC Board has been constituted with members drawn from key stakeholder institutions, with a mix of expertise in leadership, law, finance, engineering and consumer protection.
Miccah Nkabinde has been appointed Chairperson and he holds a Master of Science in Leadership and Change and represents the Eswatini National Pensions Fund. He is serving his first term.
Other members include Welcome Ncobizwe Nxumalo, who holds a Master of Law in International Commercial Law and represents the Economic Association of Eswatini; Renata Ntshangase, holder of a Master of Business Administration representing the Ministry of Finance; Noncedo Ncedile Dlamini, with a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance representing the Eswatini Institute of Accountants; and Mandla Ntshakala, who holds a B-Tech in Chemical Engineering and represents the Eswatini Consumer Forum. Ntshakala is serving his second term.
