MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows’ newly-signed player, Thando ‘Mshina’ Sihlongonyane’s is eligible to play for Mbabane Swallows.
The player’s registration in the second window period is within the boundaries of International Federation of Association Football (FIFA’s) Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. Under these rules, a player can be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season, though they are typically only eligible to play official matches for two of them.

Less than 30 hours after his last outing for Amawele, ‘Mshina’ was thrust into the cauldron of the Mbabane derby against archrivals Mbabane Highlanders. The debut could not have been more perfect as Swallows secured a 1-0 victory and local bragging rights, thanks to a decisive strike from midfielder Mancoba ‘Nciba’ Vilakati, whom also walked away with E2 500 for being the Man of the Match.
Sihlongonyane now finds himself in a remarkably small circle of players who have navigated such rapid transitions. His weekend marathon mirrors some of the most famous ‘blink-and-you-missed-it’ moves in global football history. This circle includes Dietmar Hamann, where the German midfielder famously signed for Bolton Wanderers on July 11, 2006, only to have a change of heart and sign for Manchester City less than 24 hours later.
