MBABANE – The Hustlers have laid down a marker in the SBS Mbabane Zone Netball League.
Hustlers, along with ABC Academy Juniors, are proving they are the teams to beat after a clinical week two display over the weekend of zonal league under Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Hhohho Regional League.
The games were played at Coronation Park and Hustlers ran riot against a struggling Deaf Queens side, beating them 59-11. The victory ensured they sit at the summit, tied on four points with a resilient ABC Academy Juniors.
ABC Academy Juniors showed they have no intention of dropping the ball this season. They delivered a masterclass, defeating rookies St Flamingos 31-13. This kept an unbeaten streak alive, along with The Hustlers.
While the top two are currently setting the pace, the chasing pack is breathing down their necks. A four-way deadlock has emerged just below the leaders, with Mbabane Raiders, Fire Rescue, Eswatini TV and Ngwenya Diamonds all tied on two points. With the margin for error razor-thin, these sides will be looking to shift gears in the coming weekend to bridge the gap.
At the other end of the spectrum, a quartet of teams is still searching for their first win in this 10-club league.
On another note, the heat is set to rise even further this weekend as the elite SBS Netball League returns to the court on Saturday. Some high-profile fixtures will ascend Malangwane Hill, shifting from Lobamba’s OlympAfrica to the capital city.
