MBABANE – The two-month hiatus is finally over.

This coming Saturday, the Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Elite Netball League bursts back into life, as the country’s top sides resume their battle for national supremacy.

According to the latest schedule released by Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA) Secretary General Nkabinde Shabalala, both the SBS men’s and women’s leagues will descend upon the OlympAfrica Centre at Lobamba.

While top-flight netballers have been out of action since November, any lingering rust will need to be shaken off quickly with five high-stakes fixtures lined up for the restart.

The action commences at 9am with a mid-table clash in the women’s category between rookies ABC Academy and Vixens.

Both sides currently find themselves stuck in the pack, desperate for a victory to climb the ladder and distance themselves from the basement.

Elsewhere in the women’s section, second-placed Green Lightning are set to collide with OlympAfrica.

Lightning will be looking to strike hard to maintain pressure on runaway league leaders, Royal Flames, who currently hold a narrow two-point advantage at the summit.

The Flames themselves headline the day’s activities, taking to the court following a double-bill of men’s division clashes.

The leaders host third-placed Buffaloes in a high-octane encounter between two security forces rivals – a battle that could have significant ramifications for the ultimate destination of the title.

While the elite stars return to the court, those in the SBS Hhohho Regional League will take a breather.

Mbabane Zone Secretary Nonhlanhla Lukhele confirmed there will be no regional action this weekend, noting that teams are scheduled to return to the Coronation Park Courts during the first weekend of February.
