MBABANE – Eswatini’s leading female professional golfer, Nobuhle Dlamini, made an encouraging start to her 2026 campaign.
This follows a strong opening round at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge. Dlamini finished inside the top 10 after the first-round of the Sunshine Ladies Tour event, which carries a total prize purse of E1.3 million. The tournament, featuring over 100 golfers from across the world, teed off on Wednesday and runs until Friday at Hummewood Golf Club in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Eswatini star carded a two-over-par 74, placing her just four strokes off the pace after day one. Her round featured solid ball striking and steady recovery play, keeping her well in contention heading into the remaining rounds.
Germany’s Celina Sattelkau set the early benchmark with a superb three-under-par 69, while Tina Mazarino followed closely on two-under 70. A tightly-packed leaderboard suggests the contest remains wide open, with several players separated by only a few strokes.
Dlamini will be looking to build on her positive start as she continues her push for consistency on the Sunshine Ladies Tour, where she has been steadily establishing herself among the continent’s top professionals.
Dlamini said the conditions were tough.
“I made a few errors on the approach shots and on the green. It got tricky in the wind.
Waiting to play again tomorrow and I believe it will be better.”
