MBABANE – London cellist, Stjepan Hauser has amused fans with an interesting rendition of Bholoja and Tendaness’ track titled ‘Jika’.

Stjepan Hauser, known professionally as HAUSER, is a Croatian cellist and he also sings in concert. He was a member of 2CELLOS, along with his friend Luka Šulić and continues to perform solo. Born June 15, 1986. Hauser was born in Pula, Croatia, into a musical family, where he began his musical education.

His mother plays percussion and his sister is a journalist in Pula.

Hauser has performed in more than 40 countries, including debuts in Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Southbank Centre and many more. His passion is to show the world the versatility of the cello.

With over nine million followers on his Facebook page, his followers were amused by the sound of ‘Jika’, with the majority leaving comments stating how beautiful both the song and his version are.

“I find this song from Eswatini really curious. It seems that it is actually a dance, whose rhythm reminds me of a passionate life experience. Maybe this impression is influenced by the dramatic landscape of this small country and my knowledge about its people and cultural heritage,” read one comment, while another also stated, “From Eswatini a story unfold in sound.  ‘JIKA’ carries the spirit, rhythm & ancestral memory of its people and through Hauser’s cello, that heritage is given a global voice…each strokes grounded in tradition yet expansive enough to travel beyond borders. This is Music Unites the World realised with grace and intention-culture honoured, identity preserved and emotion made universal. Hauser’s artistry lies not only in his remarkable technique, but in his rare ability to listen deeply, to respect the music’s roots and to let its soul lead,”. Hauser’s performance style may only be described as electric, a unique pairing of cello pyrotechnics that align beauty, elegance and true rock muscle. Fuelled by a repertoire base that is as wide and expansive as Lady Gaga is from Tchaikovsky or Shakira is from Shostakovich, HAUSER is the dynamic cellist performing all of it and taking the world by storm – for what other classically trained cellist can say they have toured with Elton John.
