MBABANE — The Love and Laughter with Gogo and S’lwane and Friends event saw a maximum capacity turnout at the Mantenga Nature Reserve and Cultural Village on the evening of February 14.

The event annual event, scheduled to coincide with Valentine’s Day, drew a diverse demographic of attendees to the traditional landmark. Gogo confirmed that tickets reached a full sell-out prior to the commencement of the event. The programme featured headlining performances by prominent local comedians Gogo and S’lwane, supported by a rotation of guest performers from the local comedy circuit, including Darren and Bongiswa, ChristianDude, Festival B and Shaun the Talking Monkey, who delivered powerful comedy skits during the night and had most attendees in stitches throughout the show. Mnqobi Tsabedze, as the vibrant MC of the evening, held the event with great talent.

The outdoor venue was configured to accommodate the influx of spectators, with seating arrangements extending towards the perimeter of the cultural village space. The attendees were packed from chairs in the surface area to the rooftop of the cultural village, where traditional dances usually take place.

The performance schedule focused on a variety of comedic styles, including observational comedy, which includes sketches focused on daily life. The performances were delivered in siSwati to cater to the local audience. Short segments interspersed between comedic sets to manage stage transitions.

Gogo and S’lwane sold out over 23 consecutive shows both within Eswatini and internationally. They are widely known for their viral TikTok videos and digital sketches that focus on SiSwati culture, language and daily life in Eswatini. Their comedy is characterised by a blend of observational humour and vernacular stand-up. They often address themes of relationships, domestic friction and cultural identity, making their work highly relatable to local audiences and beyond.
