On our cover today we talk to local sensation based in Canada, Halala Dlamini whose stage name is, Lil Halzz. Lil Halzz is not chasing attention. He is answering a calling that began long before the microphones, the stages and the global recognition.

His story begins at Logoba an area shaped community and resilience. At Logoba, music is not a career path or an industry concept, it is a constant presence. It played in homes, at gatherings and during everyday moments.

At the time, it did not feel like preparation, but looking back, it was shaping everything. Those early environments planted purpose long before ambition ever formed.

Raised by his grandmother, Lil Halzz learnt responsibility early. In that household, strength was lived rather than spoken about. His grandmother managed two roles at once, holding the family together with discipline, care and sacrifice.

In the same home, he wat- ched the eldest daughter step up when needed, standing firm for the family and carrying responsibility beyond her years.

Those moments shaped his understanding of leadership before he had the language to describe it. In many African homes, the ‘firstborn’ is defined by duty rather than age alone. They are the ones who carry weight quietly, open doors and set standards for others to follow. That understanding would later give meaning to his creative output.

WHEN MUSIC FOUND HIM

Music did not seek out Lil Halzz, he needed it. As a child, he did not yet see a future in the arts, he only felt it. Freestyling came naturally as a means of expression rather than a bid for attention.

It was a way to release thoughts and emotions that had nowhere else to go. In places like Logoba, dreams do not always announce themselves early. Sometimes they grow quietly, waiting for the right moment to surface.

The move to Canada marked an expansion of home rather than a separation from it. Settling in Edmonton, on Yegside in the 780, Lil Halzz entered a new environment with unfamiliar pressures. With different streets and a different pace, the ‘grind’ became real in a new way.

Life demanded discipline and focus. Freestyles turned into writing, writing into structure and structure into vision. His work ethic deepened and his identity became clearer. The streets were not romanticised but were respected as part of his formation. If Logoba shaped the soul, Canada sharpened the execution.

Lil Halzz’s strength has always been his truth. There are no gimmicks or fabricated stories, only lived experience translated honestly into sound. His energy is measured, his presence intentional and his growth deliberate. He speaks openly about overthinking and carrying the weight of expectation. However, growth brought trust, in his instinct, his timing and the process. Today, clarity leads where fear once existed.
