BE appoints expert to drive State-business collaboration

MBABANE – Business Eswatini (BE) has taken a decisive step towards strengthening collaboration between government and the private sector.

This follows the appointment of a dedicated expert to spearhead the operationalisation of the State Business Relations (SBR) Framework.

The organisation announced that Violet Buluma has been appointed as the SBR Expert, a role aimed at deepening structured engagement between policymakers and the business community in order to accelerate economic reforms and improve the country’s investment climate.

The appointment comes at a time when the country is intensifying efforts to transform its economy through stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors.

Business Eswatini said the move reflects the private sector’s commitment to supporting national development priorities through effective dialogue and coordinated action with government.

The SBR framework is designed to create a formal and consistent platform for public-private engagement, enabling government and business leaders to jointly address policy constraints, improve competitiveness and unlock new investment opportunities.

According to Business Eswatini Chief Executive Officer Nathi Dlamini, the appointment represents a critical milestone in turning years of preparatory work into practical implementation.

 “We are thrilled to welcome Buluma to the Business Eswatini team. Her appointment marks a pivotal moment, transforming our vision for structured SBR into an operational reality,” said Dlamini.

He said government had already signalled its strong commitment to economic transformation, and the private sector was ready to play a leading role in driving that agenda.

“The government has clearly articulated its ambition for economic transformation, and the private sector is eager to be the driving force behind it. With Buluma’s leadership, we are confident that the SBR will become the primary vehicle for co-creating solutions that unlock investment, remove policy barriers and generate the jobs our nation needs,” he added.

Business Eswatini said the establishment of the SBR platform follows extensive groundwork undertaken by the organisation to create a structured mechanism through which business and government can engage on economic policy and reform initiatives.

The urgency for stronger collaboration between the two sectors was recently emphasised during the 2026 Cabinet Retreat, where government leaders adopted a declaration under the theme ‘Transforming Eswatini Through Effective Execution.’

In the declaration, Cabinet identified the State Business Relations framework and the National Competitiveness Council as key mechanisms that will help accelerate decision-making, remove regulatory bottlenecks and support investment promotion.
