MANZINI – The Mavuso Sports Centre was more than a stadium yesterday, it was a pressure cooker of ambition, noise and raw Eswatini football heritage.

By the time the dust settled on a gruelling double-header, the script for the Ingwenyama Cup Itintile final was written in shades of green.

After Green Mamba laboured through extra-time to dispatch a resilient Manzini Sea Birds 2-1, the stage was set for a heavyweight clash: the storied Young Buffaloes against the meteoric Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Buffaloes were hunting a record-equaling third final appearance, while Hotspurs, who are the league leaders and current 8Bet Trade Fair Cup holders, sought to keep their dream of a season treble breathing.

The atmosphere was electric, dignitaries including Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima and Tournament Chairman Prince Hlangabeza were in attendance.

On the pitch, Young Buffaloes marched with tactical discipline. In the 34th minute, chaos in the Nsingizini box allowed Owa Matsebula to peel away and slot a low, clinical finish past Sibusiso Dlamini.

For much of the match, it looked like Buffaloes’ homework would pay off as they smothered the Shiselweni-based side.

However, Nsingizini are not league leaders by accident. After the break, the introduction of Mlungisi Hlatjwako and Mvuselelo Mthethwa injected life into their play.

Just as Buffaloes seemed ready to punch their ticket to the final, Senzo ‘Mbhobho’ Ndlovu produced a moment of pure magic.

Eight minutes from time, he unleashed a rocket that shattered goalkeeper Mlungisi Nxumalo’s flawless clean-sheet record and sent the fans into a frenzy of flying missiles—this time, purely in celebration.
