MBABANE – History was made as Eswatini Captain and all-rounder Adil Butt produced a masterclass during the recently-concluded ECA Ubuntu T20I Tri-Series.

Eswatini claimed the title in a tournament featuring competitive outfits from Mozambique and Lesotho, but it was Butt’s individual brilliance that dominated the headlines at the Malkerns Country Club.

Butt’s tournament was a rollercoaster of form that showcased his immense mental fortitude. He began the series with two consecutive centuries, setting a new record as the first player to strike three hundreds in a single Twenty (T20) International series.

Despite a brief lean patch with two successive failures, the skipper regained his composure to smash three consecutive scores of 50-plus, including a third century. Most notably, he set a new record for the fastest T20I 50, reaching the milestone in just 11 balls.

His contribution was not limited to his explosive batting; his nine wickets with the ball fully justified his status as a premier all-rounder.

By amassing 466 runs, Butt shattered the previous record of 383 runs held by Malawi’s Sami Sohail since 2025, establishing himself as the new benchmark for consistency in T20I tri-series cricket. Furthermore, he became only the fifth associate player to hit consecutive T20I hundreds.
