DURBAN – The 130th edition of the Hollywoodbets Durban July was a fusion of sport, fashion, business and entertainment.

The performances at the Durban Tourism Marquee heated up during their daytime vibes with Eswatini’s award-winning musician Nothando Hlophe taking onto the stage. Upon ascending onto the stage, guests went crazy and screamed before she even began singing. Hlophe was well in  coordination with the guests as she listened to their song requests. The song that was the highlight of most of the guests through their responses was ‘Methodist Medley’ as they sang it word for word.

South African, Hip Hop sensation, KO also did not disappoint as he gave the crowd what they had come for on the day, giving top notch performances of his award winning tracks. KO’s performance proved why he will always remain in the game. Amapiano sensation Boohle got the guests dancing from the moment she jumped onto the stage till her very last song. The star also gave guests a sneak peak into her new Gqom song with DJ Tira, showing off her dance skills.

Tourism a key player in country’s economic growth

The Durban July grand experience attracts about 46 000 people from the region.

This was confirmed by Durban Tourism Deputy Director, Winile Mntungwa as she said that since they are Africa’s playground, ‘people will leave Durban tomorrow as they need to explore their tour. We are so excited, especially for the economic spinoff and economic boost, with temporary jobs created,’ she said. Saturday marked another important milestone in strengthening regional tourism partnerships, with a group of journalists from media houses from the Kingdom of Eswatini attending the Durban July Experience in Durban, South Africa.

The initiative was made possible through the strategic partnership between the Eswatini Tourism Authority, Durban Tourism and the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority. ETA Marketing Manager Wakhile Zwane said the organisation firmly believes that tourism is built on meaningful partnerships. “No destination can successfully position itself in today’s highly competitive tourism landscape by working alone. Collaboration allows destinations to share knowledge, create new opportunities, reach wider audiences and ultimately grow visitor numbers for the benefit of our people and our economies,” he said.
