Fight mould with Dulux, before it rules walls

Mould is often a sign of an underlying damp problem which can affect both interior and exterior surfaces. Dampness can be found in areas of high humidity, like bathrooms and kitchens or where a waterproofing (rising, falling, later damp) problem is present. Environments with high humidity or dampness are susceptible to mould growth. An example of a humid environment is steam generated through cooking and bathing, and therefore, it is important to use the correct paint in these types of environments. Dampness can be easily prevented with appropriate ventilation measures like making sure windows are open or ensuring the necessary damp/waterproofing is in place.
It has serious health complications for humans with symptoms like coughing, runny nose and an increase in sneezing which can lower quality of life, unexplained increase in attacks for asthma sufferers, worsening of other allergic airway diseases like rhinitis, eye inflammation causing reddening and skin rashes or inflammation.

Dulux Bathroom + and Dulux Wallguard are formulated with Mouldex® technology that will give excellent mould resistance to your newly-painted surface.
SURFACE PREPARATION:

•  Strip loose and flaking paint completely using high-pressure water (180-200 Bar) or other appropriate means.
•  Friable surfaces must be removed and repaired.
•  Mould instructions. To clean lichen and algae growth, scrub with either 4:1 water/chlorine, or 4:1 water/sodium hypochlorite solutions. Ensure that the areas are completely saturated and allow the solution to react for a minimum of 4 hours. Rinse the complete wall surface thoroughly with clean water.
• Chalked surfaces must be thoroughly brushed or prepared with high pressure water cleaning. Allow drying. Priming with Dulux Bonding Liquid, which is un-pigmented, is preferred as it could penetrate further into the surface but needs to be over-coated within 48 hours.
• Prime all exposed areas with appropriate primer as recommended under new surfaces. For very absorbent surfaces, more than one coat primer may be required to achieve correct binding and sealing properties before applying the finishing coat (Dulux Bathroom + and Dulux Wallguard).
