In a world full of busy schedules, deadlines and stress, maintaining both physical and mental wellness is more important than ever. Regular exercise doesn’t just tone muscles; it also sharpens the mind, lifts your mood and strengthens the immune system. We recently caught up with Sandzisile Zwane, a college student at Softech College, who shared how she balances her academic life while staying committed to a healthy lifestyle.“I like to keep my body fit and strong, while maintaining a very healthy diet,” Zwane said. “Even though college life is demanding, I always make time to move my body – whether through jogging, walking or a full workout session.”Her daily routine is both simple and effective. Each morning begins with a glass of hot water to detox and jumpstart her system. “It flushes out toxins and balances the lymphatic system,” she explained. “A healthy lymphatic system strengthens immunity and keeps illnesses like flu and headaches away.”After that, Zwane hits the road for a jog or workout session, and even on her busiest days, she squeezes in a walk or quick jog after classes. What keeps her going? According to her, it’s the mental clarity that exercise brings. “Exercising regularly refreshes the mind. You get fresh air, clear your head and feel ready to tackle anything,” she said.Science backs her up. Regular physical activity releases endorphins; the body’s natural mood boosters – which help reduce anxiety and depression. It also improves sleep, increases energy levels and enhances brain function. In a time when mental health issues are on the rise, movement can be one of the most accessible and effective tools available. Sandzisile is only 26 years old and is well on her journey to taking care of her mind, body and spirit.
