MBABANE – Football fans are in for a thrilling experience at the upcoming edition of the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup.

This was announced yesterday during a press conference held at Sigwaca House by the tripartite partners of the season’s curtain-raiser tournament.

The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), 8Bet and the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) set the tone for the third edition of this popular football showpiece, which is expected to run alongside the Eswatini International Trade Fair (EITF). The EITF takes place from August 28 to September 6. However, it was revealed that this year’s tournament will be officially launched on July 19 at Mavuso Sports Centre during a special event.

8Bet Head of Marketing Mnqobi Tsabedze said the launch will double as a watch party for the FIFA World Cup. Building up to the final; which he hopes will feature what looks to be his favourite team, Argentina; the local tournament will kick off proceedings in style at an event starting at 5:30pm. Fans, along with players from the participating teams, are invited to attend, as this tournament is all about them.

Tsabedze described the occasion as a family fun day and encouraged supporters to wear replica jerseys of their favourite teams. The fans who make the biggest impression with their team’s replica kit will be rewarded. There is no restriction on which jerseys fans can wear, although the emphasis is on local clubs.

8Bet further said details regarding logistics and attendance will be communicated in due course, but one thing is certain; each team’s superfans will be invited.

Reflecting on the partnership, Tsabedze said they have observed the tournament go from strength to strength. He added that after three years of great success, further details about the future of the sponsorship will be shared on the day. This is a final year in the sponsorship agreement.
