MBABANE – Eswatini’s FIFA Video Match Official (VMO), Letticia Viana, has reached another remarkable milestone after being appointed to officiate at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The tournament, Africa’s premier women’s football competition, will take place from July 26 to August 16, with Viana serving as one of the tournament’s key video match officials (VMOs).

The appointment has been warmly welcomed by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), which described it as another proud achievement for both Viana and Eswatini football. EFA Marketing and Communications Manager Muzi Radebe congratulated Viana on the prestigious appointment. “The EFA congratulates Letticia Viana on her appointment and wishes her all the very best in this assignment. Her appointment also serves as motivation to other referees, especially the young officials, that with hard work and dedication they too can reach the highest level of football officiating,” said Radebe.

Her latest appointment comes shortly after FIFA named her among the officials selected for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be staged in Poland from September 5 to 27. The appointment further underlines the confidence FIFA continues to place in the Eswatini official. Although she was at one stage in contention for the senior FIFA World Cup, she ultimately earned selection for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, adding another prestigious assignment to her growing résumé.
