If you’ve ever looked at an ISUZU X-Rider and thought, ‘It could use a bit more attitude,’ then your wish has just come true.

Mbabane Motors has officially introduced the all-new ISUZU X-Rider to the Eswatini market, bringing with it a tougher look, more technology and, perhaps most exciting of all, a new 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that injects serious muscle into the X-Rider line-up.

For years, the X-Rider has built a reputation as the stylish member of the D-MAX family, but this latest model isn’t just about black accents and bold decals. It now has the performance to match its aggressive appearance.

More power where it counts

The biggest talking point is undoubtedly the arrival of the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, a first for the X-RIDER range. Producing 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque, it delivers significantly more punch than the proven 1.9-litre engine, which offers 110kW and 350Nm.

Whether you’re towing a trailer, heading into the mountains, or simply overtaking on the highway, the extra power promises effortless performance.

Drivers who enjoy venturing off the beaten track will also appreciate features such as an electronic rear differential lock and Rough Terrain Mode, ensuring the X-Rider is more than just another good-looking bakkie.

Built to turn heads

One glance is all it takes to realise this isn’t your average D-MAX.

The front end features a striking black and dark grey grille finished with a bold red ISUZU badge, while exclusive X-Rider decals, a redesigned sports bar, diamond-cut 18-inch black alloy wheels and redesigned LED headlamps give it a confident road presence.

The enlarged rear spoiler and updated tailgate complete a package that looks equally at home outside the office or covered in mud after a weekend adventure.

Comfort meets practicality

Inside, the X-RIDER continues the sporty theme with leather seats finished in distinctive red stitching, complemented by piano black trim and matching red accents throughout the cabin.

A leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a new seven-inch driver information display and practical storage compartments create an interior that’s as functional as it is stylish.

ISUZU has also added USB-C charging ports for both front and rear passengers, ensuring everyone stays connected on long journeys.

Technology keeps pace

The cabin is packed with modern technology, including a redesigned eight-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay, Wireless Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and hands-free calling. Convenience features such as rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, remote key auto-lock and the welcome-home lighting function make every day driving easier.

Safety comes standard

ISUZU hasn’t overlooked safety either.

The X-Rider comes equipped with Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control, cruise control, a rear-view camera with parking sensors, plus an impressive seven-airbag setup that includes driver, passenger, side, curtain and driver knee airbags.

It’s a package designed to inspire confidence whether you’re navigating city traffic or tackling challenging terrain.

Pricing in Eswatini

The new X-RIDER is available locally through Mbabane Motors in five derivatives:

  • 1.9 Ddi Double Cab HR X-Rider – E676 464.99
  • 1.9 Ddi Double Cab HR X-Rider Automatic – E698 285

  • 3.0 Ddi Double Cab HR X-Rider Automatic – E799 945
  • 3.0 Ddi Double Cab 4×4 X-Rider Automatic – E851 945

Final verdict

The new ISUZU X-Rider is far more than a cosmetic upgrade. It combines the legendary durability of the D-MAX with sharper styling, modern technology and, thanks to the introduction of the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, performance that finally matches its bold appearance.

For buyers looking for a bakkie that can handle a week’s work, a weekend adventure and still look good parked outside the restaurant on Friday night, the X-Rider may have just become one of the most exciting new arrivals on Eswatini’s roads.
