MBABANE – Eswatini professional golfer Nobuhle Dlamini has made a dream start at the Blair Atholl Ladies Pro Am.

The tournament is brought to you by Investec, where Dlamini carded an even par 72 to finish the opening round tied for fifth.

Fresh from competing on the Ladies European Tour, Dlamini returned to South Africa and immediately put herself in contention in the Sunshine Ladies Tour event at the Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Estate in Lanseria, Gauteng. The tournament has attracted a strong field of 90 professionals and amateurs and will conclude tomorrow on July 16.

South Africa’s Gabrielle Venter set the early pace with a five-under-par 67, while Nadia van der Westhuizen sits second on four under. Dlamini shares fifth place on level par, five shots adrift of the leader but well placed heading into the final round.

The tournament carries a R2.6 million prize purse and is the latest stop on the Sunshine Ladies Tour. Last year’s title was won by Kaiyuree Moodley.

Dlamini heads into the final round in encouraging form, having already recorded three top five finishes this season. She finished tied fourth at both the SuperSport Ladies Challenge and the Standard Bank Ladies Open, while also claiming a tied fifth finish at the Jabra Ladies Classic, underlining her consistency on tour.

Before returning to South Africa, the Eswatini golfer tested herself against Europe’s elite on the Ladies European Tour, where she competed in the Dutch Ladies Open, Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and other LET events, gaining valuable experience against some of the world’s leading professionals.

She will now be aiming to produce another solid round tomorrow as she looks to challenge for the title and add another strong finish to an already impressive season.
