MBABANE – Eswatini Coach Siyabonga Ngwenya is in Germany for a one-year Kids in Motion Certificate Course.

The announcement was made by Athletics Eswatini (AE) and confirmed by the coach, who said he arrived in Germany this morning.

“I’m already in Germany to advance my Kids’ Athletics Lead Certificate, where I will now be focusing on sports medicine, sports science and didactics for youth sports development,” Ngwenya said.

He explained that the course aligns with the Ministry of Education’s health and physical education syllabus, which was recently introduced in secondary schools. Upon completion, he will receive a postgraduate certificate from ITK University in Leipzig.

He said the programme is a hybrid course that began in June with online lessons and will now include physical classes and examinations. It will also encompass research and practical components, according to the coach.

Ngwenya also said he is looking forward to sharing the knowledge he gains when he returns home. He thanked the Ministry of Education and Training, AE, Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council and Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association for their support in this knowledge empowerment opportunity.

Meanwhile, AE said the coach has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the development of kids’ athletics in Eswatini.

“After successfully completing the Kids’ Athletics Certificate Course in Kenya, he was appointed as a Kids’ Athletics Lead, where he has continued to play a key role in growing the programme.

This latest opportunity in Germany will further strengthen his knowledge and expertise in children’s athletics development, equipping him with valuable skills to continue advancing Kids’ Athletics in Eswatini,” AE stated.

The programme currently includes specialisations in football, handball, basketball, volleyball, track and field, swimming and table tennis, and is offered by the Sports Science Faculty of Leipzig University.
