MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Swallows have released want-away winger Bongi ‘Karas’ Magagula with immediate effect.
The latest development comes at a time when the former Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows player has a pending case with the Eswatini Football Association (EF) Players Status Committee (PSC) after dragging Umkhonto KaShaka before the committee over contractual disputes.
The matter was heard at Sigwaca House last Thursday, but was postponed to this week after it was discovered that some of the evidence Swallows wanted to submit before the PSC was missing. The matter was heard after that of promising striker Njongo ‘Jakalazi’ Mazibuko, who was cleared by the PSC and allowed to join a team of his choice.
A source close to the red and white capital city giants revealed that management has since shown the former national team, Sihlangu, winger the exit door.
“The club has decided against going back to the Players Status Committee, as they felt that it is useless to keep a player who is no longer interested in being part of the team,” the source said.
The source added that the club has informed ‘Karas’ that he should find a team of his choice for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.
The city giants Public Relations Officer Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya confirmed that they have parted ways with Magagula. “Yes it is true, we told him to find a team of his choice,” Ngwenya said.
Ngwenya confirmed they released the player, but could not go into detail on the reasons behind the decision.
Another player, former Amawele defender Fred Asante, has also taken Swallows to the PSC over allegations of a failure to fulfil contractual agreements. Magagula joins a growing list of departures from the ‘Birds’ nest ahead of the 2026/27 season.
