MBABANE – It was indeed a homecoming party.
This came after Mbabane Highlanders President Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize announced that the club’s traditional black and white kit has been reintroduced, following concerns from a section of supporters over its discontinuation.
The South African businesswoman unveiled three kits bearing the traditional Mbabane Highlanders logo for the 2026/27 campaign during the capital city giants’ homecoming event held at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground yesterday. The event was attended by club patrons, supporters and players.
“We are happy to unveil our three kits that we will use in the upcoming season. We have also reintroduced the black and white kit, which will unite us, as I like a united family,” Mkhize said.
‘MaMkhize’ revealed that the team will wear the black and white kit in their first 8Bet Trade Fair Cup match today.
‘Inkunzi Emnyama’ will face Ubombo Sugar in the opening match of the E3 million sponsored annual tournament.
She then tasked General Manager Richard Makobe with unveiling the technical bench, headed by Floyd Mogale, and the players, headlining the new signings with former Royal AM player Sabelo Shezi alongside former Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Bongiswa ‘Romario’ Dlamini.
Speaking on behalf of the patrons, a representative thanked the president for the work she has done for the team since taking office last season.

“The black and white kit is a symbol of winning here at the club. We urge supporters to refrain from violence as it drains the club’s coffers,” the patron said.
He assured supporters that they would continue to work with the president for the benefit of the club.
“When we encounter challenges, we will sit down with her to find a way forward,” he added.
Makobe thanked supporters for their continued support of the club’s management since taking office. He assured them that the players were ready to bring trophies home this season.
“We will hold meetings with supporters once or twice a week to discuss ways to take the club to greater heights,” Makobe said.
Makobe then presented top lawyer Nkosingivile Dlamini as a director of the club. The director revealed that management had done its work to make the president proud.
“The president has a big vision for the club and I would like to urge the supporters to back her as we aim to bring trophies this season,” Dlamini said.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Captain Ndumiso also urged supporters to rally behind them, adding: “We will not disappoint them.”
It is worth noting that former Nsingizini Hotspurs award-winning Chief Executive Officer Banele Ngobe was a surprise visitor at the event.
