EZULWINI — The new MTN Premier League champions will pocket $72 818.25 (E1 185 000) following an E85 000 stake increase unveiled at Ezulwini.
The lucrative boost was announced after Wednesday’s official launch at the MTN Eswatini Headquarters in Ezulwini, as the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) released a cicular outlining the full reward structure ahead of the new season kick-off on September 19.
Individual honours have also received a financial uplift. The Player of the Year category now carries an E18 000 reward, up from the E17 000 awarded to last season’s winner, Philani Mkhonto of Manzini Sea Birds. In addition, all 16 participating top-flight clubs will receive an initial participation fee of E120 000.
Title defence action begins on Saturday at Somhlolo National Stadium, where back-to-back champions Nsingizini Hotspurs kick off their quest for a record third consecutive crown against Moneni Pirates.
