MBABANE – Delegates attending the Southern African Development Community Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (SADCOPAC) conference stepped away from official duties today to explore local cultural and heritage sites across Eswatini.
The kingdom is currently hosting the 18th SADCOPAC Annual Conference and 22nd Annual General Meeting, bringing together regional representatives to discuss public financial oversight and governance. Following days of deliberations, the delegates spent the day touring key tourist and cultural destinations before their scheduled departure tomorrow.
The tour commenced at the Mantenga Cultural Village with a guided walkthrough of the traditional Swati homestead. Delegates watched performances of traditional dances, including sibhaca and ummiso. During the showcase, several delegates participated in learning the steps alongside local performers and presented cash gifts to the performers as a gesture of appreciation.
Following the cultural village visit, the delegation travelled to Eswatini Candles in the Malkerns Valley to view hand-crafted wax artwork and observe local artisan production processes.
The itinerary is set to conclude with a visit to Ezulwini Palazzo, where the group is set to experienced the local hospitality.
Deputy Speaker MP Madala Mhlanga stated that the tour was arranged to share the country’s culture and showcase local attractions to international representatives prior to the conclusion of the event.
