MBABANE — Rivalry will be renewed as Eswatini once again collide with South Africa on the continental netball stage.
The fiercely contested clash is slated for Saturday, September 26, 2026, starting at 4pm at Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya. Assistant Coach Wandile Sithole believes Eswatini have what it takes to overturn their earlier defeat to the defending champions and finally land gold.
The national side booked their place in the final after a hard-fought 48-43 victory over hosts Kenya earlier this week. The result completed Eswatini’s second successive victory over Kenya, following their 37-28 triumph over the same opposition in last year’s tournament.
It also set up a mouth-watering rematch with South Africa, who defeated Eswatini 43-36 in their tournament opener. Prior to this, Eswatini fell short 31-42 during their friendly match held on September 5. This is not the first time these two sides have faced off in finals. The SA men’s team defeated Eswatini 60-39 to defend their Africa Netball Cup title in 2024. At the time, they were led by South African tactician Jabulani Vilane, who now leads Eswatini. It will be interesting to witness if the coach who guided SA to gold can work his magic and guide Eswatini to the same.
Vilane will likely entrust Brandon Dlamini as goal shooter, while Nduku Masangane might once again serve in attack. Meanwhile, Mandisa Sihlongonyane will be distributing the balls at centre, alongside Mpendulo Mncina or Simanga ‘Mgwaja’ Vilakati, who returns from injury. Captain Fortune Neves will headline the defence, while Sakhile Maseko might serve at goal post.
South Africa, coached by Shiko Mokaila, will likely field Eugene Sinkezi. Elsewhere, Lutendo Malwashe and Thabang Lebea might lead their attack, while Edward Manyathela and Lungani Nyawu will lead their defence. SA have dominated this competition for numerous years, dating back to 2024.
