LOBAMBA – The proposal to have NERCHA and the  NDMA assist the Ministry of Health in the procurement of drugs in the country has been rejected by Members of Parliament.

Prime Minister (PM), Russell Dlamini, through a report that he presented in Parliament recently, proposed that the National Emergency Response Council on HIV/AIDS (NERCHA) and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) be roped in to assist the Ministry of Health in the procurement of drugs for public hospitals and clinics.

Yesterday, the PM moved for the adoption of the responses to the motion addressing the health challenges facing the country, where he had included the proposal. The responses were adopted by the House, but with amendments, as the MPs requested the removal of the proposal by the PM.

Prior to the adoption of the responses, Kubuta MP Masiphula Mamba submitted that it would be improper for the legislators to adopt the responses with the procurement proposal as recommended by the PM because they did not support it.
