MBABANE – A dispute over players is brewing between the national team, Sihlangu and Royal Leopard.
This follows reports that the reigning Ingwenyama Cup champions have not released their players for the national team’s training camp. Sihlangu Head Coach Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic recently announced a 22-member provisional squad for the upcoming back-to-back 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon and Libya early next month.
The squad announced by the Croatian coach included the biggest contingent of players from Royal Leopard, with six of them making the 22-man list. The squad is currently in camp at the Lobamba Technical Centre, preparing for the two away matches.
A source close to the Edwin ‘Porto’ Matsebula-coached side revealed that the team are yet to release the six players to join Sihlangu in camp. “All six Royal Leopard players are still with the team, preparing for their continental match against the team from Namibia,” the source said.
