MBABANE – Former Vice Chairman of the Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA), Ntfonjeni MP Raymond Dlamini, was yesterday elected to lead the body.

The Member of Parliament (MP) takes the helm from Anthony Mdluli, who did not stand for re-election. The vote was the centrepiece of the association’s annual general meeting (AGM), which was held at Sigwaca House in Mbabane.

Dlamini secured a decisive victory over former General Secretary (GS) Musa Mamba, accumulating 43 of the 73 votes cast. Mamba recorded 30 votes in an election that required a 50 per cent +1 majority.

Beaming with excitement, the former Malanti Chiefs coach thanked the voters for their trust, promising to serve the best interests of Eswatini’s coaching fraternity. He acknowledged that the executive had taken on board various submissions and requests made during the AGM regarding the necessary work ahead.

The election is notable as Dlamini becomes the second sitting MP recently elected to a major football entity. Sifiso Shabalala, the Chairperson of the Parliament Sports Portfolio Committee and Dvokodweni Inkhundla MP, was recently elected to the Lubombo Football Association (FA).
