MBABANE – South African music heavyweight and Afrotainment founder, DJ Tira has officially confirmed that he will headline the ‘Golden Xmas After Party’ on December 25.
The event, hosted at the sophisticated Espinho Restaurant and Bar is set to transform the Christmas holiday into a high-octane celebration of dance culture.
The buzz surrounding the event reached a fever pitch following a personal video confirmation from the ‘Malume’ of Gqom himself. In a direct message to his Eswatini fanbase, Tira challenged revellers to pull up and groove with him, stating: “My fans from Eswatini, do you want to groove with Makoya Bearings on December 25, “I will be at Espinho Restaurant and Bar for the Golden Xmas After Party. Make sure that you pull up. December 25? Listen, I cannot wait,” he said.
Mthokozisi Khathi, widely known as DJ Tira, is a legendary South African DJ, record producer and entrepreneur. Often referred to as ‘Malume’ by his fans, he is a pivotal figure in the South African music scene, particularly for his role in popularising the Gqom and Durban Kwaito genres.
DJ Tira is known for his massive summer hits and high-energy collaborations. He has remained highly active this year, releasing projects like ‘Voices of Gqom’ and ‘Izinsimbi zaMakoya’. His recent popular tracks include ‘Awungazi’ featuring Pcee and Campmasters and ‘Shibilika’.
The party is scheduled to kick off at 5pm on Christmas Day, running well into the early hours of Friday. Organisers have curated a line-up that blends South African star power with local talent to ensure a seamless ‘after party’ vibe for those moving from family lunches to the dance floor. The local acts include Bandora, AyaCity, Obsession, Mike and a performance from Ntsetse Musician, all promising to deliver powerful sets on stage. Espinho Restaurant and Bar has hosted other South African acts this year, including Azana and Mduduzi Ncube.
