MBABANE – Nkwene Sundowns have terminated the services of Head Coach Almond Nxumalo following failed promises with the club’s management.
The announcement was made by the club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Bukhosi Dlamini, during the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) Sports Show on Friday.
Dlamini, speaking on behalf of the club, informed stakeholders and supporters that Nxumalo’s departure was due to an irreconcilable breakdown in agreements with management.
“The club has sent me to update the team’s stakeholders as well as our fans that Almond Nxumalo, who was our head coach, is no longer part of our technical bench,” Dlamini stated.
Dlamini further shared that Nxumalo’s departure stems from not reaching agreements with the club management.
“The agreements between the coach and the management resulted in the management terminating Nxumalo’s services,” he said.
He elaborated further, explaining that the original terms set between Nxumalo and the club had ceased to align with expectations.
“The agreements that were made between the coach and the club were no longer going in accordance and what he had promised us did not happen,” stated the Nkwene PRO.
Despite the coaching vacancy, Dlamini expressed optimism about the club’s future. The team has yet to appoint a replacement, but is actively engaged in discussions with potential candidates.
“The team has not found a coach yet to replace Nxumalo; we are still looking, but we are already in communication with a number of coaches. Our hope is that by the time we play our next game, we will have a coach,” he said. Dlamini concluded his update with a rallying call to the club’s loyal supporters, urging them to maintain their strong presence at matches.
Meanwhile, Nxumalo confirmed having left the club. He said he left after theor game against Sidwashini United.
This change at the helm comes as Nkwene Sundowns aim to build momentum in the domestic league, the second-tier league, MulaSport National First Division.
