MBABANE – Shiselweni-based outfit Rangers CEO, Thembela Hlanze, has stated that the club has neither received any formal interest nor is it contemplating selling sharpshooter Hleliso Gamedze.
This follows reports suggesting that the ‘Big Three’ of Green Mamba, Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes are currently wrestling for the services of the league’s joint-top scorer.
The pacey and crafty winger is understood to have two years remaining in his contract with Shuni waBolova, as the Mthunzi Ginindza-led side is fondly known.
“We are not thinking of selling him, and no team has shown any formal interest. Perhaps we might reconsider if an offer arrives,” the chief executive officer (CEO) remarked.
When questioned by this publication regarding the player’s estimated market value should they eventually contemplate a sale, Hlanze remained firm. “His value cannot be measured yet because we are not currently entertaining the idea of a sale,” he added.
Discussing the team’s seasonal objectives, he emphasised that their primary focus remains on avoiding the drop. “A significant number of teams will be relegated this season, and we are working hard to secure a safe position. Once that is achieved, we can set other targets,” he said.
Meanwhile, Green Mamba also dismissed reports of a bid through their Public Relations Officer (PRO), Ntuthuko Dlamini. “The technical team has not yet submitted a list of players they are interested in for the current window,” he clarified.
Gamedze himself confirmed that no club has approached him directly. He currently leads the elite-league scoring charts with 10 goals, alongside Tabankulu Celtics forward Malangeni Dlamini.
The latter has already secured a Player of the Month award this season for his clinical form in October, which helped his side achieve a top-three place in the league table.
With the second registration window opening on January 8, clubs are gearing up to make their moves. Football fanatics are anticipating new signings and high-profile exits.
