MBABANE—South African sensation Morda turned Solani’s Shisanyama into a high-octane furnace on Saturday, March 21.

The event marked the Eswatini leg of Ligwalagwala FM’s 44th Birthday Celebration Tour, proving that the SABC station’s influence remains a cornerstone of the regional sector. From the moment the former Black Motion star stepped behind the decks, the atmosphere shifted from expectant to electric.

Morda, known for his energy and percussive House brilliance, delivered a set that bridged the gap between his deep-rooted Afro-Tech origins and the contemporary Amapiano wave. His performance included a 360-degree dance that resonated with the crowd, while his song ‘Takala’ prompted attendees to sing along as he performed on stage.

Ligwalagwala FM, which has spent over four decades as a cultural voice for SiSwati speakers, used the milestone to demonstrate its evolving relevance. Fortune Ntekati, the host of the Siyahamba Manje Drive 326 on Ligwalagwala FM, highlighted that Eswatini feels like home, making it an essential stop on the tour to celebrate with the local fans who support the frequency.

The energy remained high as the station connected with the crowd, further illustrating the bond between the broadcaster and Eswatini.

In an interview after his performance, Morda noted that he enjoyed the event and the warm reception he received. “Eswatini has been so good to me, it is my home, this is not my first time in Eswatini, most people know me from MTN Bushfire. Commitment is always the drive, as for me I do not drive for more than four hours, but I committed to drive for five hours to come to this event, which just shows commitment,” he said.

Morda was joined by a full roster of local and international acts including Fortune Ntekati, Shabbisto, The Prince, T Boy, Buhle, Mkhulu Afro, Lungile Mhango, Locco, Sedikins, Mayas, Teqnosoul, Sindiso, President, Ntux, Griffin and Mazozo.
