MBABANE –The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs facilitated the sponsorships for the Tinkhundla Talent Search soccer tournaments yesterday.

Yesterday saw Minister Bongani Nzima begin in the Shiselweni Region, where he presented each of the tinkhundla centres with their E20 000 sponsorship cheques. For the southern region, the presentation for its 14 constituencies was held at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in the morning.

In the afternoon, the minister went to Sigwaca House, where the same number of constituencies under the Hhohho Region were presented. This saw 28 of the 59 constituencies receive funding, bringing the overall sponsorship amount to E560 000.

Today, the minister will start in the Lubombo Region and conclude the activities in Manzini. Speaking ahead of the presentation in Hhohho, Minister Nzima said the funding provided by the government aims to get every inkhundla actively participating in sport. He believes this sponsorship will provide each Member of Parliament (MP) with a base for the sponsorships they regularly do in their constituencies.

He reiterated the purpose of the programme, which is to unearth talent and expressed hope in the programme’s sustainability and continuity. He added that the ministry will monitor the leagues sponsored by these government resources.
