MBABANE – The Minister for Information, Communication and Technology, Savannah Maziya, has expressed immense pride in gathering with the country’s young minds and digital innovators.
Describing youth as the nation’s treasure, she highlighted the impact of the recent TikTok Content Creators Workshop. “Our passionate content creators, innovators and digital storytellers at the recent TikTok Content Creators Workshop, a landmark engagement that signals a new chapter for Eswatini’s creator economy,” wrote the minister on her Facebook page.
Minister Maziya extended her sincere appreciation to TikTok for partnering with government. She noted that the platform is vital for educating emaSwati on the vast opportunities available within the global digital economy.
According to Maziya, this workshop is only the beginning of a long-term strategy. It represents the first of many steps towards creating an enabling environment where Eswatini’s digital talent can thrive, compete globally and benefit from the opportunities of the digital age.
While the country has not yet reached the full destination of monetisation and payment opportunities, Maziya urged creators to value the current progress. She noted that many countries across the continent do not yet enjoy these opportunities. “One day at a time, we move forward, knowing that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We have started, and we will continue working tirelessly to ensure your success and your meaningful participation in the global digital economy,” she shared.
Addressing local talent directly, she offered words of encouragement, urging content creators to hold on. She acknowledged that while the journey may seem long, the finish line is drawing closer. Opportunities that once seemed distant are becoming increasingly accessible and the ministry remains committed to ensuring that no aspiring creator is left behind. The minister emphasised the power of digital media in putting the nation on the global map. “The world should know Eswatini. Let us tell our stories. Let us showcase our culture. Let us create our footprint through creativity, innovation and digital excellence,” she urged.
Looking ahead, the ministry plans to host more workshops, ensuring the younger generation receives the opportunities they richly deserve. By building these international partnerships, Eswatini is steadily securing its footprint in the global creative arena.
