MBABANE – Just days after being released, former capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders captain Sphamandla ‘24 Reasons’ Maseko has found a new home.

The midfielder was unveiled by Ubombo Sugar late on Thursday night, making him their first signing of the upcoming season, with more arrivals expected in the next few days. Finer details of his deal could not be ascertained at the time of compiling this report. However, indications are that he will spend a season at the club.

Team Manager Sanele Mkhatshwa confirmed the acquisition.

“It is true that Maseko has joined Ubombo Sugar. Regardless, I cannot disclose the duration of his deal, but we will be with him in the upcoming season. The team is working overtime to make certain adjustments as we want to improve on last season’s performance. As a result, a player of his calibre was needed to bolster the squad,” he said.

His signing becomes another surprise move after former Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Bongiswa ‘Romario’ Dlamini joined ‘Inkunz’emnyama’ this week. With the transfer window opening next month, teams across the globe are busy with signings.

Betway Premiership outfit and Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have welcomed former Stellenbosch defender Thabo Moloisane to Naturena.

Maseko boasts a wealth of experience in the elite league, having previously played for Denver Sundowns.
