When obedience meets divine purpose

There are moments in history when God raises a man to fulfil a divine assignment, not because he is perfect, eloquent, or qualified by the world’s standards, but because he is willing. The calling of Moses stands as one of the clearest examples of how God can use the weak, the unsure, and the humble to accomplish the extraordinary.

When the time for Israel’s deliverance had come, God did not choose a man with political power or military might. Instead, He called a humble shepherd; Moses, who carried nothing but a staff. That staff, though ordinary in appearance, would become a symbol of divine authority and proof that when God sends you, He equips you.

Transformation through obedience

Moses did not initially see himself as capable. He was self-doubting, hesitant, and slow of speech. He questioned God’s choice, asking “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” Yet God was not searching for a perfect man, He was looking for a surrendered heart. Once Moses accepted the call and leaned wholly on the Lord, his character began to transform. He became eloquent, bold, and confident, not in himself, but in the God who sent him.

This is a powerful lesson for every believer. God does not wait for us to feel ready. He prepares us as we go, shaping us through obedience. True greatness, then is not found in status or ability but in faithful service to divine purpose.

However, the story of Moses also carries a sober warning. On his way to Egypt, he faced a frightening encounter with an angel, a moment of divine displeasure because he had neglected a clear instruction; The circumcision of his son. Though chosen by God, Moses was not exempt from obedience. Even the called must walk in full alignment with God’s law.

As we near the time of Christ’s return, this lesson is more important than ever. Obedience matters. The protection of God is promised to the righteous, but those who knowingly neglect His commands put themselves outside of divine covering.  “Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point are guilty of breaking all of it,” (James 2:10)

Let us therefore walk in humility, faith, and full obedience, for when God sends you, He walks with you, strengthens you, and works through you. But your safety, power, and success remain anchored in your obedience to His Word. “Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.” – Exodus 3:10.
