Infracast’s operations are built on a safety culture that goes far beyond compliance. Guided by a comprehensive safety framework, the company places prevention, accountability, transparency and continuous learning at the heart of everything it does. Safety is viewed not just as a legal requirement but as a moral obligation, shaping daily operations from management right down to the newest recruit.
The company’s safety culture is strengthened through behaviour-based safety programmes, proactive reporting of unsafe conditions and regular recognition of exemplary performance.
Every shift begins with safety talks and every task, whether by an employee or sub-contractor, starts with a risk assessment. By embedding these practices into the organisation’s DNA, Infracast ensures that safety is never treated as an afterthought.
Compliance is meticulous. Infracast aligns with Eswatini’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (2001), the South African National Standards (SANS) and leading international benchmarks such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
Though ISO certification is yet to be formalised, its principles are deeply woven into the company’s systems. Routine internal audits and third-party inspections by entities like the Ministry of Labour help maintain high standards and identify areas for continuous improvement.
The company holds SABS approvals for product-specific standards, integrating them into its operational management to ensure thorough documentation, incident logging and robust risk assessments.
Hazard management is multi-layered, from detailed job hazard identifications to strict permit-to-work systems for high-risk activities. Emergency preparedness is equally rigorous, with trained personnel, evacuation plans, fire suppression systems and first aid facilities in place
Perhaps most telling is the fact that in the financial year 2024/2025, Infracast recorded zero lost-time injuries and zero fatalities which has been hailed as an exemplar to its continued vigilance.
Building trust through quality: Infracast’s standards that last
Quality is not negotiable at Infracast, but it is the standard. Anchored in ISO 9001 principles and SANS (SABS) certifications, the company has developed a robust quality assurance framework that extends from design through production to delivery and after-sales service.
This approach ensures that clients receive products that are reliable, durable and fully compliant with all relevant standards. The company holds three key SABS certifications in the precast concrete sector: SANS 986 for reinforced portal culverts, SANS 677 for non-pressure concrete pipes and SANS 1294 for manhole chambers and components. Each certificate is a badge of rigorous compliance, backed by years of continuous improvement and recertification.
From the moment raw materials arrive, they are subjected to thorough testing. In process inspections, statistical sampling and real-time quality monitoring are conducted to ensure dimensional accuracy and functional performance. Finished products are checked against compliance requirements before leaving the factory.
In cases where non-conformities arise, Infracast’s corrective and preventative action system ensures swift resolution and measures to prevent recurrence. The quality process is supported by KPIs such as first-pass yield analysis, defect rates and order completion times. Regular audits, both internal and external they validate the effectiveness of these processes. Innovation is welcomed but never at the expense of quality; every new product or custom design undergoes rigorous simulation and field trials before full-scale production.
Moreover, recognition of these efforts came in 2024 when Infracast was named third runner-up for Product of the Year at the Eswatini Quality Awards. The company also successfully renewed all SABS permits, securing its certification through to 2028. These milestones underscore a commitment to delivering quality that clients can trust year after year.
