EZULWINI – FNB Eswatini and the Sunshine Tour have unveiled a record-breaking E2.5 million prize pool for the 2026 FNB Eswatini Challenge.
The package, to which FNB Eswatini and the Sunshine Tour have contributed E2 million and E500 000 respectively, represents a over E0.5 million increase on last year’s total pool. This year’s edition of the challenge was officially launched by the Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, at the Royal Swazi Spa in Ezulwini yesterday.
The main leg of the tournament, hosted at the Ezulwini Golf and Country Club, will take place between August 13 and 15, 2026. It will be preceded by a two-day client Pro-Am, where the bank’s clients and stakeholders will play alongside selected professional golfers.
Speaking at the launch of the tournament’s fifth edition, Minister Nzima hailed the sponsorship as one of the largest single-sports sponsorships in Eswatini.
The minister congratulated the organisers on reaching the five-year milestone, noting how difficult it is to sustain such initiatives over time.
“With over 100 professional players descending on Eswatini from the rest of Africa, South America and Europe, the FNB Eswatini Challenge is now a matter of national importance that deserves all of our support,” Nzima said.
He said sport is a major driver of economic growth as the players and working teams coming to Eswatini will not only be playing golf but will also be supporting the hospitality sector, artisans and other industries.
“The ripple effects and benefits are there for all of us to experience,” he added.
