… collaborates with Morda, J’Something

MBABANE – Local DJ, Sukoluhle ‘!Sooks’ Dlamini keeps on soaring higher in the industry as he recently collaborated with two South African music giants, Morda and J’Something.

The first collaboration ‘Bring on the Night’, is a reinterpretation of a Deep House classic that has always held a special place within the scene. Rather than simply recreating the original, !Sooks approached the record as a respin, keeping the spirit and familiarity of the classic intact while bringing it into his own sonic world. “The track also features J’ Something on vocals, adding a fresh dimension to the record and giving the reinterpretation its own identity. What makes the collaboration particularly exciting is the balance between nostalgia and reinvention; listeners who know the original can recognise its DNA, while the production, arrangement and vocal treatment introduce something distinctly new,” he said.

Interestingly, the record was not initially intended to become an official release. !Sooks originally created the reinterpretation for his own DJ sets, simply as a version he could play out and make part of his sets. “It was only after Kid Fonque heard the track and recognised its potential that the idea of taking it beyond the DJ booth began to take shape,” added !Sooks.

!Sooks is also celebrating another significant milestone with his collaboration with MORDA on ‘Aroso’ featured on ‘ASANTE IV’. The record represents an important step in his journey, bringing his sound into a wider collaborative space while working alongside one of the most influential names in the contemporary African Electronic music landscape.

“Aroso is more than simply collaboration. It marks a moment of growth, a reflection of how far my sound and identity as an artist have developed and an opportunity to contribute to a project with a strong cultural and musical identity. Being part of ‘ASANTE IV’ places the record within a broader African electronic music conversation, while still allowing my signature emotive and atmospheric approach to come through,” he said.

The collaboration is particularly meaningful because it arrives at a point where !Sooks has been steadily carving out his own space within the Deep House scene. From his reinterpretation of classics to his original productions and collaborations, there is a clear evolution in the way he approaches music, respecting the foundations of the genre while continuously looking for new ways to express himself.

With ‘Bring On The Night’ gaining momentum and ‘Aroso’ marking a major career milestone, both records represent different sides of the same progression,  one rooted in reimagining a classic, the other in stepping into new territory through collaboration. Together, they capture an artist entering an exciting new chapter in his career.
