LOBAMBA – Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat believes Eswatini boasts a strong football league after Scottland FC eliminated Nsingizini Hotspurs from the CAF Champions League.
Scottland progressed 1-0 on aggregate following a goalless draw against Nsingizini at Somhlolo National Stadium yesterday, having won the first leg in Zimbabwe.
Despite advancing, Billiat refused to single out any individual Nsingizini player, emphasising that the hosts’ performance relied entirely on collective effort.
“We can’t single out anyone. They played as a team,” Billiat said.
The former Zimbabwe international noted that Nsingizini’s ability to hold Scottland to a goalless draw at home reflects very positively on the standard of local football.
“It shows that they have a strong league. To come here and be held to a goalless draw at home tells you something about the quality of the league,” he said.
Billiat also believes several Eswatini players possess the necessary capabilities to compete successfully in Zimbabwe’s top flight.
“I think there are more good players from Eswatini who can compete in Zimbabwe,” he said.
The Scottland guest player added that his side must now build on the result and approach their next challenge one game at a time.
“We want to take it one game at a time. They are a good side, and it’s an all-around good, strong league,” he said.
