MBABANE – Green Mamba FC remain in Angola following unexpected flight delays after their CAF Confederation Cup second-leg fixture played on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The club have released an official statement announcing the developments.

The team say they are safe and together, with new travel arrangements in place.

“The current arrangement is to depart Angola tonight at 11pm, arriving in Johannesburg tomorrow morning, before continuing the journey to Eswatini later in the day,” the club said.

Despite the disruption, the squad is said to be staying focused.

“Despite the delay, the team is currently training and preparing for the MTN Premier League opening match against Mbabane Highlanders AM FC,” the statement added.

The club also appreciates everyone’s patience, understanding and continued support during this time. They have promised to keep everyone updated on the team’s journey back home.

Green Mamba have bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the first preliminary round stage following a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Angola’s Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto.

They lost the first leg 2-0 at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday,  September 5, 2026. They then suffered the same 2-0 result in the return leg in Luanda on Friday.

With their CAF campaign now over, Mthunzi Ginindza’s side turn their attention back to domestic football.

All focus shifts to the MTN Premier League, where they open their season against rivals Mbabane Highlanders AM this coming weekend, as per the MTN Premier League draft fixture.
