EZULWINI – Local gospel musician Linda Dlamini provided VIP entertainment at the Swazi Boy Gala Dinner on Thursday evening, and used the stage to make an audacious pitch for one of Eswatini’s biggest festival slots.
During his performance, Dlamini singled out MTN Bushfire Festival Director Jiggs Thorne in the audience with a direct appeal to be booked for the festival.
“I am seeing Jiggs here. Mr Jiggs, please man, I humbly request to be the first local gospel musician to perform at the MTN Bushfire Festival,” he said from the stage.
Thorne smiled and responded with a nod as the musician continued to make his case.
“Yes, Mr Thorne, you know on Sundays, I have observed that the DJs usually play gospel tracks in their sets and the audience reacts insanely and I am sure that they would even go crazier with the actual musician on the stage,” Dlamini said.
Following his appeal, the musician proceeded with his set, performing his trending tracks to an audience that was soon on its feet.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Dlamini invited several legends of the gospel genre to join him on stage, a moment that drew loud applause from guests.
