SITEKI – Students from Buckswood School in the United Kingdom, accompanied by Prince Benkhosi, visited Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital on Tuesday.

The students, along with Buckswood School Principal Kevin Samson, donated over 100 bags of 10kg mealie-meal, medical supplies and about 30 blankets. They also provided toys for children admitted to the hospital’s paediatric ward. Prince Benkhosi personally made a cash donation of E10 000 to the hospital.

Muzi Dlamini, CEO of the Good Shepherd institution, stated that Buckswood students visit Eswatini annually. These visits often include one student who is based at the hospital for several days, working closely with staff and assisting them. During their yearly visits, the students typically participate in community projects. For example, during their current visit, they helped paint a local school in the region.

Dlamini confirmed this year’s donations, saying: “This year they brought 100 bags of mealie-meal, blankets, toys and medical supplies like bandages, among other supplies for the hospital.”

He added that Samson appreciated the service provided by Good Shepherd. Dlamini noted that the principal even toured the hospital wards and encouraged staff to continue working with dedication and passion when attending to patients.

Expressing appreciation and gratitude to the Buckswood students and Prince Benkhosi, Dlamini highlighted how the mealie-meal would help the hospital cater food for its patients, and how some would also assist patients under home care. “We haven’t yet completely passed the winter season, and some of the food parcels, together with the blankets, will enable us to care for our patients under home care,” he reiterated.

Dlamini also acknowledged Prince Benkhosi for being the crucial link between the institution and Buckswood School in the United Kingdom. “We are very grateful for the enormous donations from the Buckswood students and Prince Benkhosi,” the CEO concluded.

During the visit, Prince Benkhosi also expressed his and the Buckswood students’ admiration for the great work and efforts by the Good Shepherd institution and its staff in caring for patients. “We have heard the good news of the institution taking care of patients from the Lubombo region and from across the country,” the prince said.

He encouraged the hospital staff to continue putting forth their best efforts in supporting and providing medical care to patients, concluding by acknowledging Buckswood’s generous donations and expressing his belief that they would significantly contribute to the institution’s efforts.
