MBABANE – At just 21 years old, local artist Sinakekelwe Dlamini is turning heartfelt memories into music.

Currently studying at the University of Johannesburg, Dlamini is back in Eswatini for her school holidays and spending her time in the studio working on a deeply personal single titled ‘Abengiyala.’

The upcoming track pays tribute to her mother, who played a significant role in raising and guiding her. ‘Abengiyala,’ which translates to ‘she would caution me’ is inspired by the countless times her mother would caution her about the harsh realities of the world.

“This song is about how my mother raised me,” Dlamini said. She explained that her mother would always caution her about the dangers of the world and that she is forever grateful for the wisdom she received while growing up.

“Her guidance made me the woman I am today,” she added. “She is so special to me.”

Known for balancing academic life wither passion for music, Sinakekelwe uses her breaks from the university to pour her emotions into art. She says being in the studio while in Eswatini is a form of therapy and expression.
