MBABANE – National First Division (NFD) champions and Premier League returnees Malanti Chiefs caused an upset for Young Buffaloes.

Malanti Chiefs did the unthinkable on Sunday when they faced the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup defending champions Young Buffaloes at the Mavuso Sports Centre.

Malanti showed intent to win the game from as early as the first whistle, where they kept piling the pressure on the army sides’ defence and eventually got a break through in the 22nd minute through Isaac Yeboah.

The Vusisizwe Mahlalela-coached side saw out the first half with their narrow lead, which set the tone for an equally entertaining second half, where Young Buffaloes introduced some of their new signings, the likes of Phumulani ‘Bin’ Shongwe.

The latter was a game changer as they become more compact in the midfield area and later materialised into their equaliser, through Mpendulo ‘Mpetha’ Dlamini in the 64th minute.
