“Your social media presence is your storefront” — Unknown.

An increasing number of young people are actively engaging on social media platforms. Some are making a significant impact, others are simply having fun or consuming information, while a dedicated few are consistently earning income through various innovative means. Today, we spotlight a rapidly ascending content creator who is not only amassing a substantial following, but also effectively marketing local events on her platforms. Remarkably, many social media users now regard her as their trusted gig-guide. The most inspiring aspect is that she is earning money while growing her audience.

The digital landscape remains uneven when it comes to monetisation. As a demonstration, Facebook’s revenue-sharing model leaves many creators unpaid for their content. However, this situation is not static. The tide is gradually turning, and creators can anticipate a future where their efforts on the information highway are duly rewarded. Gcwala’s mission is to champion and elevate these emerging talents, helping them gain confidence and recognition in a competitive digital economy.

Turning to our main profile today, meet Mukelo; a vibrant 21-year-old who embodies creativity and ambition. She is a model, event promoter and content creator famously known as She Stans A-Reece or Kidor. Hailing from Mafutseni, she navigates the social media scene with a fascinating blend of introversion and extroversion. An ardent A-Reece fan, she made headlines when she captured the rapper’s attention during the fifth edition of the Epic Gig at Mavuso Trade Centre, a moment that boosted her visibility and confidence.

“I am someone who is very confident about my body and everything that is about me. Even if people try to lower my self-esteem, I just don’t entertain them because of the confidence that I have. Secondly, I am someone who enjoys working with other people. I thrive in environments where I can interact with others, whether it’s collaborating with colleagues or connecting with event promoters. My passion for building relationships and understanding different perspectives makes me a natural team player. I am always looking for ways to support and empower those around me and my positive energy is contagious,” she explains.

Mukelo further shares how her passion for event marketing on social media took shape. “I started marketing events last year when I was a bit relevant on social media. One of my friends told me Ocean Cuisine was hosting ‘Summer Vibes’ and they needed attractive and relevant girls on social media, someone with a considerable following. She recommended me as one of the promoters. That was my first step into event marketing. Over time, people started reaching out to me to promote their events. Sometimes I get referrals from other promoters when they need additional help. Since I genuinely enjoy this work, I kept on doing it,” she recalls.
