LOZITHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has urged the world to unite and find a lasting solution to global conflicts.

He emphasised the devastating loss of life and displacement of people. The King made these remarks yesterday evening while receiving letters of credence from five ambassadors of European Union (EU) member States.

The new ambassadors are: Gabriele Phillip Annis (Italy), Vladimir Gracz (Slovakia), Attila György Horvath (Hungary), Rasa Jankauskaite (Lithuania), and Satu Lassila (Finland).

The King expressed his concern about the ongoing conflicts, where many people are being killed and forced to flee their homes. “These are difficult times. The whole world needs to come together and find a lasting solution to these conflicts so that one day the conflicts could be a thing of the past, allowing countries to focus on building their economies,” he said.

He said he was counting on the EU ambassadors to help make this dream a reality and expressed hope that they would discuss solutions during future dialogues.

The King also encouraged the ambassadors to familiarise themselves with Eswatini and its people. He highlighted the recent Reed Dance Ceremony, which was attended by over 200 000 young girls, and noted their participation ‘in full spirit, which shows their love and respect for our culture’. He added that the ceremony was a success and that even the rain did not deter the maidens from dancing.

In a joint statement delivered by Ambassador Horvath of Hungary, the ambassadors acknowledged that global challenges have been aggravated by conflicts in the Middle East and Russia’s “unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine.’ They stressed the need for international partners to support one another in upholding the United Nations Charter and the multilateral order to ensure global peace and sovereignty for all nations.
