MBABANE – Award-winning Gospel musician Nothando Hlophe’s song ‘Sithumela Wena’ is one of the most listened to songs in the country, according to Apple Music.
This was revealed on the Apple Music Top 100 Eswatini charts yesterday. Worth mentioning, this is the only local song which was featured among the 100 songs on Apple Music. At the time of compiling this report, the song was number 20 out of the 100 songs featured on the charts.
‘Sithumela Wena,’ was released on August 15 across all major digital platforms. When unveiling the song, Hlophe shared that the song is a bold declaration calling for intervention.
“Sithumela Wena is not just a song, it’s a bold declaration and prayer calling for divine intervention. The project ‘A New Dawn’ captures a new season in my musical journey. The live album is themed around worship, healing and spiritual awakening, showcasing my depth as a minister and my ability to connect deeply with audiences through music,” she said.During an interview with the artist after the song made history on local Apple Music charts, she said reaching number 20 on the Eswatini Apple Music charts with ‘Sithumela Wena’ is a very humbling and encouraging milestone for her.
“It shows that the message of the song is resonating with people and that listeners are connecting with the heart behind the music.
For me, this achievement is more than just numbers, it’s confirmation that consistency, authenticity and hard work do pay off. It also motivates me to keep creating music that not only entertains, but also uplifts and represents who we are as a people,” she said. She also added that she sees this as a win for the local music industry.
